Résumé

This book presents an international review of the modern geo-economy and a scientific take on the geo-economy of the future. It identifies the challenges of climate change and their impact on the modern geo-economy. Prospects for the geo-economy of the future are outlined based on sustainable agriculture and alternative energy. Policy implications are put forward to develop a geo-economy of the future in response to the challenges of climate change. The book presents management implications for the development of the geo-economy of the future in response to the challenges of climate change at the regional and global scale. It presents the lessons-learned through the COVID-19 pandemic, and applies experiences of countries with different environmental conditions for agriculture and the development of the energy sector. Based on these results, advanced practical recommendations and ready-made frameworks at the national, regional, and enterprise level are provided. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.

Résumé

This paper aims to model the cause-and-effect relationships between the world economy's digital development and sustainable living. A broad selection of developed and developing countries examines what the world economy would have looked like without the crisis in 2020. Drawing on whether the virus is swept off or merely reduced, the dataset contains a forecast of the world economy for 2022. Being aware of alternative scenarios can be helpful in a wide range of scientific studies. The practical implications of the results of the scenario analysis consist in them allowing for the assessment of opportunities to overcome the COVID-19 viral threat with the help of vaccination. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

Résumé

The paper focuses on trends in innovation and high technology in the COVID-19 crisis and the contribution of these trends to the transition to a new quality of economic growth in the Decade of Action. The research is based on regression, correlation, trend analysis, and variation analysis on the example of the G7 and BRICS countries in 2019–2021. The article contributes to the literature by clarifying the scientific statements of the Theory of New Quality of Economic Growth from the perspective of innovation and high technology. It is proved that the COVID-19 crisis caused not a recession but a rethinking of innovation and high technology—changing their role from a catalyst for accelerating the rate of economic growth to a source of improving the quality of economic growth. The paper substantiates that the effects of the COVID-19 crisis are not so much related to a decrease in the rate but rather to an increase in the quality of economic growth. The author demonstrates that the prospects for a new quality of economic growth and its definition in the Decade of Action are determined not so much by economic crises as by innovation and high technology as mechanisms of economic crisis management. This offers great opportunities to improve the quality of economic growth in the Decade of Action through the management of innovation and high technology, which is much more manageable than economic crises. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Résumé

The purpose of this paper is to study and reconsider the order of implementing temporary government regulation of commodity prices in the EAEU from the positions of quality and to develop recommendations for improving this order for the comprehensive fight against poverty and support for the middle class amid economic crises. This paper is based on the scientific provisions of the systems approach. The authors perform economic and mathematical modelling of the influence of implementing temporary government regulation of commodity prices on their quality in the EAEU based on the method of regression analysis. For the qualitative research of the practical experience of implementing temporary government regulation of commodity prices in the EAEU amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the method of case study is used. The scientific novelty of this paper consists in the fact that it is for the first time that the order of implementing temporary government regulation of commodity prices in the EAEU is treated from the positions of quality. The originality of this paper consists in the systemic view at the quality of life and the well-balanced consideration - during the determination of its level - of not only the inflation factor (price affordability of commodities) but also the factor of quality of commodities (level of satisfying population’s needs during consumption of goods) © 2022.
